Ziemlich einfallslos, aber logisch. Die Verträge in Melbourne waren ja alle über 18 Monate.

Curtain set to fall on Melbourne theatre hits

ONE of the brightest periods in the history of Melbourne theatre might be coming to an end with the announcement the Australian premiere season of the Broadway musical Wicked will close at the Regent Theatre in three months.

Over the past 18 months, Melbourne has hosted profitable seasons of such money-spinners as The Phantom of the Opera, Priscilla: The Musical, Guys and Dolls and Billy Elliot (now in its closing weeks), enhancing the city's reputation as a theatre-loving town. Only the Monty Python spoof Spamalot failed to find an audience.

While another Broadway blockbuster, Jersey Boys, has begun rehearsals in the Princess Theatre ahead of its opening on July 4, the news of Wicked's transfer to Sydney after performing for 60 weeks, combined with the impact of the recession, is likely to mark the end of this series of back-to-back hits.

The Australian producer of the Wizard of Oz prequel, John Frost, said the decision to close in Melbourne was based on the availability of Sydney's Capitol Theatre for the next 12 months rather than any fall in sales.

"We have taken more than $50 million at the box office already and expect to have a strong final three months," he said. "I hope we will not be far away from paying back all the investors by then. Melbourne has been absolutely fantastic."

The costs and risks of mounting musicals are huge. Wicked cost $12.5 million to produce and about $600,000 a week to run. More than 500,000 tickets have been sold, of which about a quarter went to interstate and international visitors.

Frost said the only weak spot in the season was the "double whammy" of the impact of the bushfires combined with February's return to school.

Es gibt Lotto, ähnlich wie am Broadway. :smile:

Man kann sich 150 Minuten vor der Show "anmelden" und 2 Stunden vor der Show zieht man die Namen aus - insgesamt 19 Namen/Plätze für die erste Reihe. Um sich fürs Lotto anzumelden, kostet es 30 AUD (ungefähr 17 Euro), man kann sich für max. 2 Tickets anmelden und braucht dann auch, einen Ausweis mitzunehmen. ;)

Sonst gibt es keine Angebote wie hier in Stuttgart YTs oder so, aber es gibt noch zwei Seiten, die Tickets verkaufen: http://www.ticketek.com.au (die sind billiger und haben bessere Plätze) und http://www.showbiz.com.au.

(Das musst ich alles natürlich fragen, ich wusste es vor 20 Minuten auch nicht. )

Achja, und ich hab noch einen Tipp bekommen - es wäre vielleicht besser, sich ein bisschen später (d.h. 125 Minuten vor der Show? xD) anzumelden, weil dein Name dann ganz oben ist und es kann sein, dass man besseres Glück hat.

nein amande kommt im märz wieder.. ich weiß nicht genau was sie hat.. aber sie ist seit oktober weg.. kommt aber wie gesagt im märz wieder...

Ich werd mir die Show in Sydney auch ansehen können. Bin im September dort und das is ja dann ein Muss!!!!
Gut zu wissen, dass die dieses Lotto da auch haben... nur halt blöd, dass wir vermutlich zu viert oder zu dritt dort sein werden.
Na mal schauen.
